As they say at the head quarters in Soorts-Hossegor, France, "Desillusion is a Bi-monthly “!?#%”, and if you love to have your feet on a board, and your eyes open on everything, it's a safe bet".
Having said that, from my point of view, these two video-profiles have something really different from the ordinary web-clips. Their filming and their edits are just amazing, as well as the subjects of the videos are.
Desillusion Magazine's latest video is “This is PETER”, a video portrait that pays tribute to legendary snowboarder, Peter Line, one of the forefather of modern freestyle snowboarding.
Outside of contest success (Peter Line won Big Air at the X Games 1997, 1999 and 2000, as well as the Slopestyle event in 1999), he was also a founding member of the legendary Forum 8 snowboarding team which set a new standard of progression in snowboarding cinematography. JP Walker, Jeremy Jones, Joni Malmi, Wille Yli-Luoma, Bjorn Leines, Devun Walsh, Chris Dufficy, and himself were the ones who really made the snowboarding world spin around back in the days. And one can't easily forget Peter's parts in Mack Dawg Productions such as "The Resistance" in 2000, a real groundbreaking snowboarding video.
Peter Line has invented various inverted tricks, the nowadays "corked" spins included. Mister Line is also the special Guest Editor of Desillusion Magazine Tome #6, featuring Ian Ruther, Austen Sweetin, Scott Stevens, Anthony Lister, Eddie Wall, Neil Krug and Rob Mathis. Some months before the latest video dedicated to the life and work of Peter Line, Desillusion Magazin also released a video about another great character who, just like Peter Line does, has always stood out and shone in the snowboarding scene: Trevor “Trouble” Andrew. They followed Trevor on a journey around Brooklyn and New York City. The short documentary shows the city, its people, music and art scene out of Trouble’s very own perspective, while sharing his vision of life and the board sports culture.
“This is Trouble” captures some unique and intriguing footage of a personality and creative mind, inspired by snowboarding and rock’n’roll. Gaining worldwide fame as a professional snowboarder, Trevor showed the world quickly that he means “Trouble” outside of the half pipe and X-Games circuit as well. Following his passion and inspired by his wife and mentor Santigold, Trevor has now established himself as a musician in New York City. But it doesn’t stop here; all along his career, Trevor went from virtuoso snowboarder to fashion innovator to skate punk electro artist to honky-tonk warbler, while always staying true to himself and his own ideas. Trevor Andrew may be many things at once but his signature is style.
