In Slopestyle, the field is wide open, but style master Bobby Brown, Nick Goepper (virtually unknown two years ago - he came out of nowhere to place 2nd in 2012 and 1st in 2013), Tom Wallisch and Henrik Harlaut are the four big favourites.
But we should also take a good look at the challengers, like Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, James Wood and McRae Williams. McRae made a strong debut at Tignes Winter Euro X last year, simply hijacking the contest. For the women, Kaya Turski will be the girl to beat.
This year, Big Air will basically be a battleground for ‘triples’. The master of triples is Henrik Harlaut, who last year stomped a perfect 50-point air with a Nose Butter Triple Cork 1620. Who could do better? Well, the highly-technical Swiss ripper Kai Mahler will be a strong challenger, as will Elias Ambühl and Gus Kenworthy, the first skier to ever land a triple at the X Games.
Enjoy the spectacle these guys are sure to put on – welcome to Winter X Games 2014!
