Mark McMorris kept his nerve in Norway to overtake Shaun White's X Games medal record by winning the men's snowboard big air event on Saturday as Austrian Anna Gasser beat Miyabi Onitsuka to gold in the women's event.
Canadian McMorris came into the Hafjell weekend level on 18 medals with the American legend, however claimed the record on his own in scintillating fashion. The 26-year-old held off compatriots Max Parrot and Darcy Sharpe to win his ninth X Games gold to go alongside seven silvers and three bronze medals.
He then made it 20 on Sunday when he landed his eighth career silver behind Parrot in the snowboard slopestyle, with Norway's Ståle Sandbech third.
