Turin-born Ian Matteoli is one of the brightest stars in Italian snowboarding. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the sport – his father, Andrea 'Matiu' Matteoli, was a top-level athlete and Olympic coach. Ian was on a snowboard by age two and competing internationally by 13.
He made his World Cup debut in 2021 and claimed his first podium in 2022, becoming Italy's first Big Air World Cup podium finisher. In early 2023, a serious injury nearly ended his career, but after months of recovery, he came back stronger and history by landing the first-ever Frontside 2160, marking a major milestone in snowboarding.
In the 2024-25 season, Ian secured three World Cup podiums and is now looking ahead to bigger prizes in the seasons to come.
