Maxime Chabloz grew up in Beckenried, Switzerland, with a windy lake at the front of the house and a ski-lift around the back – so it's no surprise that he became a successful ski racer and kitesurfer.
“When I was six, I saw my father kitesurf for the first time, and I absolutely wanted to do it, too,” says Maxime, who quickly set about gaining a foothold in the sport and went on to win the Freestyle Junior World Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
He also continued his ascent up the ranks of freeride skiing, winning the Junior World Championship in 2019 and performing well across the various stops of the Freeride World Tour.
After that Maxime wasted no time in transferring to the elite level of kitesurfing, and he shot to the top of the rankings as a result of winning the 2020 GKA Kite World Tour when he was 19 years old.
Fast forward to today and Maxime is a consistent performer in both kitesurfing and skiing. His standout year to date is 2022, when he won the legendary Xtreme Verbier and the overall ranking of the Freeride World Tour, as well as a Kite World Tour event in Colombia.
Maxime is a true all-rounder, spending his summers chasing kitesurfing titles and the winter going for wins on the Freeride World Tour. He can also be found competing in some events of the Wingfoil-World Tour, an up-and-coming discipline that combines kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing.
