Candle Café, New York
Starting out in 1984 as a juice bar and vitamin shop known as Healthy Candle, the cafe soon became so in demand that the owners expanded. And it is just as popular today as it was all those years ago. The chefs here aim to serve hearty and nutritious meals without trading off on flavour.
Mildreds, London
Across the Atlantic is Mildreds, which owners Diane Thomas and Jane Muir opened on Greek Street in Soho back in 1988.
They now have four branches in the English capital – Soho, Camden, Kings Cross, and Dalston – offering a plethora of meals on their menu like burgers, salad bowls and pudding. Most are vegan and gluten-free.
Atago Daigo, Tokyo
First opened in 1950, Atago Daigo offers Katsuki-style vegetarian dishes, selecting fresh and healthy ingredients from the Tatsuki market and producers every morning. The best thing in dining at Atago Daigo? You get to enjoy your meal with the view over the Japanese garden!
Tian, Vienna
The award-winning gourmet vegetarian restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2014 and three Gault-Millau. Tian’s food presentation is always creative and beautifully done.
Suruchi, New Delhi
The only Indian vegetarian restaurant featured on this list and for good reason, Saruchi is an award-winning restaurant located in New Delhi. They serve traditional vegetarian Indian food, offering unlimited servings of their Gujarati Thali and Rajasthani Thali. Yum.
Lucky Leek, Berlin
The German eatery may only offer two menus, but their dishes are mouthwatering. This restaurant is all about focusing on fruits, nuts, and gluten-free products. The place is inviting and cozy which is another good thing.
Plant Café, Cape Town
Established in 2013, Plant offers and promotes delicious vegan food. They are known for their vegan sandwiches, wraps, salads and famous bowls and boxes which are all 100% vegan and gluten-free. They also have their own dairy-free cheese and eggless mayo.
Gentle Gourmet, Paris

The Avocado Show, Amsterdam
This Dutch restaurant is all about, yup - you guessed it - the avocado. If you hate avocado, then obviously this isn’t the place for you, but if you love the green fruit, then this is the only place you need really!
