CairoKee, the name inspired from both the words Cairo and karaoke, means singing along with Cairo. The band first started with the name The Black Star performing their favorite covers in both English & Arabic at various gigs around the country.
The band was later officially formed in 2003 consisting of Amir Eid, Tamer Hashem, Sherif Hawary, Adam El-Alfy and Sherif Mostafa.
Cairokee’s sound changed from Album to Album, reflecting their goals and continuous ambition to sing along with Cairo, which is a fast, paced and ever changing city.
The idea of writing lyrics, playing music and performing live for local and global audiences (all before the age of 30) is a dream come true for all the band members who have known each other since childhood.
The band has five members, Amir Eid (vocals & rhythm guitar), Tamer Hashem (drums), Adam El Alfy (bass guitar), Sherif Mostafa (keyboard), and Sherif Hawary (lead guitar).
Their first major hit was “Sout El Horeya” which has over 2 Million views on YouTube. Soon after their initial success, came “Matloob Zaeem”. Their track record of success-grabbed attention from fans globally which makes Cairokee one of Egypt’s leading underground bands.
