At the GoPro Hero5 Launch
We get to test the new GoPro Hero5 Black and Session as well as fly the Karma drone.
As you can imagine, there's a lot of hype surrounding the launch of a GoPro. We're talking inspirational beats, next level awe-inspiring video – and a lot of whooping.
So when GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman hits the floor and pulls out the new Hero5 and Karma drone, well – let's just say there was a lot of excitement. But then he did have something quite exciting to announce: not just a new and better camera, but a whole new system consisting of a drone and detachable stabiliser.
Watch the video above to see how we got along on our maiden flight.
With the Karma drone Woodman believes the team has introduced professional-style filming capability to a whole new generation who wouldn't see themselves as film-makers but just want to film the fun times with their friends and family.
“Karma packs Hollywood-caliber aerial, handheld and gear-mounted image stabilisation into a backpack for $799. It's so easy to use, a beginner can have fun straight away,” he said.
“You don't need to be an athlete to film awesome content," he added.
Besides the new Karma drone and stabiliser, there's plenty of change with the new Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session.
Ease-of-use has been the buzzword of the launch. "What makes them different is just how easy they are to use – no more water housing, voice control, auto upload to the cloud, you'll never need to touch your SD card again,” Woodman told us.
Particularly welcome will be the Hero5 Black's new massively simplified settings menu that you access via the touchscreen.
“One of the most exciting things that's going to come out of the Hero5 launch is that it's going to be that much easier to create awesome stories for the world to see,” he added.
We can't wait to share them...
