After kicking off its third season, Groove on the Grass is preparing for a takeover by Red Bull Music Academy featuring a lineup of heavy hitters headlined by renowned electronic producer Nicolas Jaar debuting his subtly emotive, restrained yet expansive music in the UAE. Let your hair down, take the heels off, and come feel the vibe!
The Chilean-American artist started experimenting with sounds at the age of 14 inspired by the likes of Mulatu Astatke and Erik Satie. Now at 25, he has already tested the limits with a number of albums and EPs as well as an improvised set at MoMa PS1 featuring interpretive dance and live saxophone, all the while having graduated from May from Brown University with a degree in comparative literature and running his own label and art house Clown & Sunset.
Make sure to head down early as alongside Jaar, the line-up will feature minimal techno DJ Magda play her unique sets that have a way of bringing tracks together in unexpected ways. Warming up, classically-trained pianist and electronic musician Valentin Stip will be showcasing his tunes, along with experimental and melodic producer Heartthrob, known for capturing peak emotion and propulsive grooves.
With a surge in open-air festivals in Dubai over the last few years, Groove on the Grass has established itself as the city’s original homegrown music festival put together for the purpose of giving electronic music lovers and party people a new global perspective on partying. As simple as it sounds, Groove on the Grass is all about the love, good vibes, music, dancing, interacting and making memorable experiences.
