LOUD Art Exhibition Redefines the Contemporary

As the name suggests, LOUD art is something that shoots beyond the four corners of the canvas, sometimes it has the ability to influence people’s thoughts. 39 artists from across the Gulf came together under one roof to display some remarkable artworks, which took the word contemporary to a completely new level, and conveyed the artists’ thoughts out LOUD.
“This exhibition was very different from the ones I have previously visited because of the bold pieces of artworks showcased which were either a representation of certain issues in the Arab community or ideas that we cannot express loudly in the region,” said Omar al Bellucci, a visitor and art lover.
Loud Art first originated in Saudi Arabia in 2012 as an experimental platform where artists were given a broad theme and were given the freedom to create art around the theme. The event in Oman aimed to jumpstart the art scene in the Sultanate exposing it to different mediums and concepts. The main concept revolves around using art as a tool to speak loudly to the audience in an effort to inspire and educate society.
All artists displayed their unique works and that was followed by lectures and workshops through a series of talks and presentations. Creative exhibits made from a range of materials were put up on display to the delight of the audience.
Paul Doubleday, Director at Bait al Zubair said, “Art in the Arabian Peninsula has seen a tremendous shift towards the contemporary. These past few years artists are becoming more aware and creative in their work, provoking thoughts and discussions about modern-day events that have a powerful impact on their work.”
