40 Nations Expected at Red Bull Street Style
Red Bull Street Style burst onto the scene in 2008 with a World Final held in Brazil and global champions were crowned in South Africa (2010) and Italy (2012) before Poland’s Szymon Skalski tricked his way to the men’s championship in Tokyo in 2013. The last event, held in Brazil in 2014 well and truly lived up to the hype with the best of the best from 44 nations battling it out for the biggest prize in their sports. Now Red Bull Street Style is hitting the UK with the 2016 World Final taking place in London on November 7-8.
Oman’s Mohammed Nasser Mohammed Alnoufali will be setting off to London to strut his stuff after being crowned Oman’s champion at the last local event. Alnoufali is determined to do his country proud once again as he puts his football skills to the test battling against top freestylers from around the world
Ahead of his trip to London Red Bull sat down with the freestyle footballer to discover more.
1) When did your exciting journey start and when did you realise you have a talent for what you do?
I discovered my talent for freestyle football at age 13. I began to take it seriously a few years later when I was 16. From there I started to compete locally and then regionally and internationally.
2) Who encouraged you to venture into this field and who is your role model?
My family are my biggest supporters and are constantly encouraging me. Also my inspiration is the freestyle champion Sean Garnier.
3) In your opinion, what are the most common challenges in your field in general?
I often have to train on my own as there aren’t many freestylers in my area. Balancing training and work commitments is also a challenge.
4) What do you normally do in your free time? What are your other passions in life?
The first thing I think about doing when I have some free time is practicing my freestyle football.
5) Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I hope to be one of the best freestylers in the region and share my love of the game at both a national and international level.
The rules are simple: three minutes, two players, one ball, one winner. This is Red Bull Street Style, the world’s premier freestyle football tournament!
