16 year old Bahraini Karting Racer and rising motor sports athlete, Abdullah Al Thawadi joins the Red Bull athlete family to become the first Bahraini Red Bull athlete. To celebrate this milestone and wish him a bright career ahead in motor sports, Abdullah visited the Infinity Red Bull Racing Garage during the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix, where he received a warm welcome by the Team.
During his visit, Abdullah was taken on a garage tour where he met many of the team members who gave him an overview of the RB9 & showed him what happens behind the scenes during races.
Mark Webber, who is celebrating his 200th race at this event, managed to slip away from the pit lane to meet the young driver, share with him some of his experiences as a professional driver and give him some tips and career advice.
On the meeting of the two drivers Mark Webber Commented:
It’s always interesting to meet young drivers who aspire to be the best at what they do; Abdullah is in the beginning of his career and he seems to be determined enough to develop himself and is also dedicated to the sport. Karting is only a beginning and many of today’s speed stars have started there. I wish him the best in reaching the next stages.
After the meeting, Abdullah said:
I was delighted with this unique experience and my meeting with one of Formula 1’s super stars Mark Webber. I was able to get a first-hand look at the operation of a professional team, and a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes in the garage. The meeting with Mark Webber has motivated me to push myself to perform better, develop myself further and achieve great results in my motor sports career that will make my country proud.
