Professor Rubik gives us his quick thoughts on mind games.
It was in Hungary that Professor Erno Rubik invented his wildly successful mind game, the Rubik’s Cube, in the 1970s as a way to help explain three-dimensional geometry to students.
There are 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 ways to scramble a Rubik’s Cube – that’s 43 quintillion mind game challenges – and people of all ages quickly became obsessed with the game.
Perpetually fascinated by mental challenges, Professor Rubik plans on attending the Red Bull Mind Gamers World Finals on March 25, which will be live on Red Bull TV.

The inventor of Rubik's Cube discusses mind games.
No one knows when the first mind game was played. Evidence of mind gaming is apparent, however, in the introduction of the strategy board game Go in China more than 2,500 years ago.
As interest in strategy games spread over the following centuries, chess appeared, with an early form played in India in the sixth century, perhaps earlier. One of India’s current chess stars, International Master and Woman Grandmaster Tania Sachdev, describes what drew her to the board game, which she’s been playing since age six.
“Chess is a very intriguing sport with a lot of unanswered questions. This aspect of the sport was a lot of fun for me,” says the 30-year-old, who will be a commentator for the live global broadcast of the Escape Room World Championship in Budapest. “The art of attack and defence excited me enough to adopt the game.”
