Apex Legends is a game about tactics, abilities, and using adaptability to make heads roll, so here are a few pointers to help you get the most out of every class of character.

Apex Legends isn't your standard battle royale fare. In fact, it's more or less become the battle royale game of 2019 due to its movement, verticality, ping system, and the reality that every single gun fight descends into an ammo-chewing scrap that may as well be scored by a Motörhead tune.
The biggest difference here is Respawn's use of characters and classes. Much like Overwatch and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends features eight different legends (and counting) who are equipped with their own set of gadgets, passives, and ultimates – tools that are designed to employ an entirely different layer of strategy when it comes to the 'loot and kill' genre. They up the time to kill and come with a laundry list of mechanics, so here's a guide on how to harness the power of The Allfather and make the most out of your favourite operators.

Bangalore

Passive: Double Time
Tactical: Smoke Launcher
Ultimate: Rolling Thunder
The word of the day here is 'offense'. Most Bangalores prefer to stand and bang when facing enemy squads, as her passive, tactical, and ultimate abilities favour those who aggro every time they hear gunfire. Her artillery strike is convenient for pummeling teams into submission, but it can also be used to create choke points, and to rush snipers and long range specialists who live and die by the Kraber.
The Smoke Launcher, which has two charges, can be utilised as mobile cover, but only if you smoke accordingly. Launching the canisters directly at enemies, instead of your surroundings, gives you (and your team) a better chance to reposition and lay down lead, while smoking team-mates and cover gives Lifeline (or your party's support pleb) a window for quick revives. Fraggers can also use the smoke charges to sic Bloodhound on opposing teams, or even combine them with a 1x Digital Threat scope for short bursts of maximum ownage.

Bloodhound

Passive: Tracker
Tactical: Eye Of The Allfather
Ultimate: Beast Of The Hunt
Bloodhound is Apex's 'Technological Tracker'. Essentially a homicide detective who thrives on Planet Earth and awful crime documentaries, and with help from the mighty Allfather, Bloodhound can finesse their way to being a top fragger in a matter of seconds.
Bloodhound's passive ability needs a buff, and despite its short range, their tactical can reveal enemies, traps, and hidden clues if they're directly in front of you. It does emit a pulse that anyone can see once you activate it, which is why it works best when paired with the Beast Of The Hunt. The ultimate adds a different dimension to Apex's 'late-game, waiting game' meta, as it can be used to infiltrate buildings and flank enemies who think camping with a kitted Devotion is god tier.
For Bloodhound diehards, fading to black and white from above, or against two opposing teams that are already at each other's throats, will usually amount in free kills – just make sure to stock up on Accelerants.

Caustic

Passive: Nox Vision
Tactical: Nox Gas Trap
Ultimate: Nox Gas Grenade
Caustic is a trap op who likes to choke things. He's more of a misunderstood chemistry teacher who lives by The Cure and idolises Curt Connors, but he's Respawn's take on a more gadget-focused operator that can be annoying as all hell.
His Nox Vision allows him to see enemies trapped in his smoke, and since he's the only one with that ability, there are plays to be made. His ultimate can fill up most houses and smaller buildings, and forcefully draw campers out of their hiding spots, while his tactical consists of six Gas Traps that can be thrown on the ground and activated by enemy detection. They’re party favours that don’t take long to regenerate, and while Bunker will always be his one true love, deploying traps next to doors, death boxes, balloons, ziplines, and any other cover or corner will modify certain areas into a domain of death. Especially if you have an endless supply of Thermite Grenades.

Gibraltar

Passive: Gun Shield
Tactical: Dome Of Protection
Ultimate: Defensive Bombardment
Gibraltar's gun shield blocks incoming fire, and is ideal for laying down ammo shells from a window or rooftop. His bubble shield lasts about 15 seconds, and can be used to heal, reload, counter ultimates, and literally jump scare enemies from above, while his tank-like Defensive Bombardment is a contained mortar strike that can prevent revives, or help your team find a new position to unleash hell.
The South Pacific Islander is a shielded fortress, so there's nothing wrong with throwing yourself into the middle of a firefight to distract (or confuse) the opposition. It's a risk, but handing out Arc Stars like they're candy and following up with a recharged shield and a fully loaded Spitfire (or Mastiff), is a pure shot of adrenaline.

Lifeline

Passive: Combat Medic
Tactical: D.O.C. Heal Drone
Ultimate: Care Package
Hitboxes or not, knowing how to take advantage of Lifeline's small stature is what separates the grime lords from the ordinary support heroes. Her passive increases the rate of healing items and revives (that come equipped with a shield wall), while her tactical D.O.C. healing drone can be used to auto heal while shielding up, or looting death boxes. Her ultimate is a care package full of high tier defensive gear that's only really useful in the beginning stages of a round, but it can always be used to distract opposing squads during the later moments Apex's third partying.
But for the love of all things Rihanna and Boy Better Know, keep Lifeline's size in mind. Ajay Che is a combat medic at heart, but that doesn't mean you have to cruise around the map with nothing but a Spitfire and a Longbow DMR. Some weapon combinations, such as Wingman & Peacekeeper and R-99 & Flatline, allow for a lot more movement and utilizing portals, smoke canisters, and Gibraltar's dome can help you revive, or drone out quickly when engaging. Just make sure to cue up suppressing fire, or catch enemies mid-reset to even the playing field.

Mirage

Passive: Encore!
Tactical: Psyche Out
Ultimate: Vanishing Act
It's no secret: Mirage mains can be toxic. His passive ability turns him invisible when he's downed; his tactical lets you send out decoys at will, and they're designed to automatically ping enemies who shoot at it; and his 'charm' puts him right up there with the likes of Johnny Cage, Bret Hart, and every internet troll out there.
Luckily, his Vanishing Act adds a pretty useful dimension to encounters. The ultimate plays off of a classic Respawn ability, and much like Alibi's holograms in Rainbow Six Siege, the group of decoys can locate targets, create escape routes, disrupt incoming pushes, and generally incite chaos. Sticking them next to windows, death boxes, lookout points, care packages, and any form of half cover should be a main priority, as it gives you an arsenal of advanced tactics to bamboozle with.

Pathfinder

Passive: Insider Knowledge
Tactical: Grappling Hook
Ultimate: Zipline Gun
If you consider yourself a Pathfinder main, then you're in charge of three things only: finding survey beacons, scanning survey beacons, and making cringeworthy remarks all while doing so, just to antagonise your team-mates. Pathfinder's passive ability is more useful than you think, as discovering the next location of the circle allows you to establish recon points, or work with your squad to isolate choke points, and even set up a series of traps along different paths.
The tactical and ultimate abilities, on the other hand, up your mobility. Path's grappling hook has a deceptive range, but pressing the crouch button as you start to move forward turns you into a sentient Spider-Bot who can swing to his heart's desire. The zipline gun works in a similar way, but since it creates a zipline that anyone can use, it's an essential tool for gaining an advantage for when there's less than 10 players on a map. Using it at varying heights can work to a greater extent, as well as tossing grenades and zipping low with full autos can decrease the time to kill.

Wraith

Passive: Voices From The Void
Tactical: Into The Void
Ultimate: Dimensional Rift
Wraith isn't for the faint of heart. Her passive alert system and use of void space make her the closest thing that we will ever get to a Scott Pilgrim character (for now), but chaining her abilities together, and to great effect, is subject to a higher skill cap. In other words, void run as much as possible. Her tactical doesn't make her completely invisible, as it leaves behind a trail, but its brief cool down is partial to those who know how to make use of quick resets. For everyone else, it's also a means of Naruto running your way around a gun fight in hopes of confusing the masses.
Just don't forget about her portals. Linking the two rifts can set up surprise attacks, or give your team-mates a brief window to quickly health and shield up in order to rejoin the fight. The portals can also be used to bait enemies into dropping into your line of sight from the floor above, or to lure other unsuspecting players into the circle of death in the later stages of a match. For a few cheeky plays, Wraith's dimensional rifts can be used to block doorways, narrow corridors, and any indoor space that screams 'Bunker', as using her tactical allows you to skip portals entirely.
