Breaking
The snapshot:
November 9, 2019 in Mumbai, India. After coming through 10 rounds in the Last Chance Cypher, Killa Kolya faced B-Boy Menno for a chance to take home the Red Bull BC One World Final title.
This is the moment he realised his dream of becoming one of the best breakers in the world.
The perseverance:
Killa Kolya had never made it past the first round at any of the Red Bull BC One World Finals he'd competed in. In 2015 he lost to B-Boy El Nino from the USA, before twice earning a spot at the Last Chance Cypher in 2017 and 2018. He stumbled on both occasions, first losing to B-Boy Wolfer and then a year later to B-Boy Bart from Brazil.
But the Kazakhstani breaker learned from his experiences and rocked up to the 2019 Last Chance Cypher with even more determination and having learned plenty of lessons through his defeats. These experiences helped him battle through 10 rounds and secure qualification for the Red Bull BC One World Final in India.
The new mindset:
After years of setbacks and plenty of disappointment, Killa Kolya had always been mentally tough. He was determined to realise his dream of becoming one of the best breakers on the planet and continually worked on his skills. But after reaching the Red Bull BC One World Final, there was a relaxed desire to do himself justice.
Before competing in Mumbai, he said: “I'll try to do my best and represent myself, because for me, after getting through the Last Chance Cypher, I've already won. It might be only half of what I want, but I'll try to represent my best, be funky and be myself on that stage and enjoy expressing who I am."

The underdog:
Having produced a major shock by beating the defending champion Lil Zoo in the first round and then avenging his 2018 Last Chance Cypher loss by defeating B-Boy Bart in the semi-finals, Killa Kolya squared off against three-time Red Bull BC One Champion, Menno.
Despite failing to take home the title, the final went down in Red Bull BC One history as the two finalists traded moves and threw down two extra rounds. A battle of stamina and desire, Killa Kolya proved that through dedication and an immense love for breaking that anything is possible.
