Max Verstappen’s pit crew beat their own world record with another sub-two-second pit stop to win the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award, stopping the clock at just 1.82s.
Not only did Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen score a hat-trick of Grand Prix wins in 2019 at the Brazilian Grand Prix, but his pit crew pulled off a record breaking pit stop at the Interlagos circuit as the Dutch driver scorched to his eighth career victory.
The team managed to service Verstappen’s Honda-powered RB15 in an incredible 1.82 seconds, beating the team’s own record set back at the German Grand Prix in July, where they serviced Verstappen’s car in 1.88 seconds. The team first wowed the world at the British Grand Prix where they pulled off a 1.91-second pit stop.
In all the Red Bull Racing squad have set the fastest pit stop time five times this season and have been the only team other than Williams to get all four tyres changed in under two seconds.
This year’s succession of world-beating pit stops means that the team have bagged the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award with one race remaining, and have their sights set on kicking things up a notch away from the racetrack.
One small step, but what's next?
The team will be taking to the skies to test their pit stop skills in zero gravity as part of the Zero-G initiative, which will involve changing all four tyres on a thoroughbred Red Bull Racing F1 car thousands of metres above the earth. Watch a teaser video below.
