A can has more than one life.

Sustainability has always been a part of Red Bull’s DNA: This means an emphasis on dealing appropriately with our packaging and can, and on reducing our carbon emissions and energy use in their production and supply wherever possible.

Please recycle the can to start the circularity process.

Circular packaging

It all starts with the right throw

And then goes straight to recycling

Producing and filling – all in one place whenever possible

And off they go -
using rail whenever possible

And that's how we bring the can full circle

Each of our aluminium cans is forever recyclable.

energy savings is achieved through recycling.

The aluminium can is one of very few food packages that can be almost completely recycled – it can even be melted down and recycled an unlimited number of times without any loss of quality. This is a decisive advantage because recycling an aluminium beverage can uses around 95% less energy compared to producing a new can. Aluminium cans are strong and sturdy, yet light in weight, neutral in taste, compact in shape and light-proof. In addition, their efficient shape and low weight enable reduced CO₂ emissions in transport.

Aluminium is one of the fastest materials in terms of recycling. Efficient recycling can turn a used can into a new one again within 60 days.

We consistently produce in a resource-conserving manner.

of our cardboard, trays, pads and displays are made of recyclable cardboard.

We were able to minimise can transport distances in our main production sites in Austria, Switzerland and the US due to the so-called "wall-to-wall production". In this innovative process, the production of beverage and can as well as the filling are carried out on site. After filling, we transport the majority of the cans by rail to various conveniently located ports and then by ship all over the world.

Centrally eco-friendly

The majority of the Red Bull cans for more than 170 markets are produced in our main production plants according to the “wall-to-wall” principle. This means that production and filling take place at the same location – which brings enormous environmental benefits.

Less Internal Transportation

Thanks to the “wall-to-wall” production, a significant share of our cans does not have to be transported or processed before they leave the plant for their destination. This saves truck kilometers and with that, emissions.

Quality guarantee

Further advantages of a very much centralized production: innovative, efficient technologies can be implemented immediately and thus help to conserve resources. In addition, state-of-the-art processes and high-quality ingredients, guarantee the highest product quality worldwide.

We strive to transport our products in an environmentally friendly way.

The transport of aluminium cans saves 40% space compared to glass bottles.

At Red Bull, we constantly reduce emissions by optimisingtransport and product cycles. The compact and lightweight aluminium can is a key factor in reducing CO₂ during transport, packaging and storage. When it comes to transport, the aluminium can is up to 20% more efficient than plastic containers and up to 40% more efficient than glass bottles. In addition, we prefer the most climate-friendly modes of transport whenever possible.

As soon as Red Bull cans are filled in Austria and Switzerland, they are transported to over 170 countries. Wherever feasible, transport is carried out by ship or rail. Trucks are used only if there is no other reasonable delivery option. At Red Bull, we continue to make great efforts to shift even more transport to rail and ship.

We save energy – even with our coolers.

energy savings.

New Red Bull ECO Coolers contribute to a lower environmental impact through natural refrigerants, energy-efficient fans, smart temperature and light regulating devices.

Thanks to their natural refrigerants, ECO Coolers are significantly more environmentally friendly than conventional refrigerators and require up to 35% less energy. The use of ECO Coolers and refrigerants is an effective way to reduce greenhouse gases. That is why we at Red Bull have made the commitment to produce only ECO Coolers.
