With plenty of racing still to go this year, the 2027 calendar is already here – and F1 keeps getting bigger. We can look forward to 24 Grands Prix in 22 countries, featuring 11 teams and 22 drivers. With 10 Sprint races and 19 races forming part of a back-to-back stretch, there's more racing action, more nail-biting Qualifying and a record number of points on the table.
Still want more? There’s two great host cities and circuits returning to the schedule, which finishes later in the year than ever before, beginning in Bahrain in March and finishing under floodlights at the traditional finale in Abu Dhabi in mid-December. And there’s even an enticing gap in the schedule that frees Max Verstappen to compete in his favourite endurance race…

Still to look forward to in 2026: Setting sail for the Americas

The championship returns to Asia with the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, before a run of four races in North and South America. Austin provides the party as the drivers tackle the superb Circuit of the Americas, which offers some of the best opportunities for wheel-to-wheel racing of the season, plus the chance to see the drivers dressing as cowboys.

They'll swap that for face paint and mariachi costumes as F1 arrives in Mexico in time for the Día de Muertos. Then, it's Brazil and Interlagos in São Paulo, scene of multiple brilliant drives by Max Verstappen. And then it's back to the USA to race down the Strip at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The championship showdown

After 22 rounds, the championship arrives back in the Middle East for the final showdown in the high-speed of Lusail in Qatar and the traditional finale as the sun sets over the beautiful Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The title race has come down to the wire in the UAE twice so far this decade, with Max Verstappen taking the spoils in a nail-biting 2021 title race and missing out by just two points last time out. With five wins in Abu Dhabi, the Dutchman has the record for victories around Yas Marina, but he shares it with Sir Lewis Hamilton and he'll want it for himself. What will happen? We can’t wait to find out.

Looking ahead to 2027: More Sprints mean more thrills

With just one of 2026's six Sprint weekends still to come - at Singapore in October - the schedule has been pumped up for next year with four more Sprint rounds sprinkled through the calendar. The format is popular with fans with more racing action and qualifying shootouts across the Grand Prix weekend.
The Sprint rounds are Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain and Italy, with three in the last four weekends: Brazil and a double header at the end of the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Those additional World Championship points could be crucial in the final mix.

Several of the Sprint races are held on circuits where starting grid position is crucial: Albert Park, Suzuka and Monaco, and with those featuring at the front end of the season, it could give the upper hand to teams starting with a quick car and featuring drivers with excellent single-lap pace: drivers like Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.

Surf’s up!

In 2027 two superb circuits return to the calendar. First up is Autódromo Internacional do Algarve – which everyone calls Portimão. It’s not got a long history in F1 because the Portuguese Grand Prix was traditionally held at Estoril in the north, but ever since it opened nearly 20 years ago, F1 has eyed it enviously. During the Covid pandemic, Portimão hosted two Grands Prix in 2020 and 2021 and now it’s back for another two years. Its combination of undulating hills and demanding right-hand turns make it a true drivers’ circuit. It’s like a mini Spa, but close to the beach, making it your best chance to go surfing at a Grand Prix weekend.

Later in the season, F1 returns to Türkiye and Istanbul Park – the best circuit designed by famed race architect Hermann Tilke. It’s another hilly track that features the legendary multi-apex Turn 8, a long sweeping left-hander that rewards precision and commitment. Sebastian Vettel described it as “an awesome corner”.
“It’s fast and extremely bumpy, so you can hardly see where you’re going,” said the four-time World Champion. “You turn in and hope for the best.” The circuit has a longer history in F1 than Portimão, hosting races from 2005-2011 plus a two-race Covid cameo. Now it’s back until 2031.

Max Verstappen builds a gap

There are two notable gaps in the calendar in May and June as the schedule neatly avoids the 24h Nürburgring and the Spa 24 Hours.
Ahead of this year’s endurance classic at Spa, Max Verstappen, who's a GT team owner, revealed he’d requested if F1 could build a gap for him to complete in the GT3 race around the Ardennes – his favourite circuit. “Spa is an amazing track and a 24-hour race with only GT cars is something very special,” he said. “I wish that I could race in Spa as well. I told them already for next year. It would be ideal if they could schedule it outside of a Formula One weekend, so let’s see.”
