Relive the Red Bull Ice Cross season with these 5 memorable moments
Find out which skaters, races and high-speed incidents lit up the 2019–20 season, as old favourites and feisty underdogs battled it out over the winter ice.
The Red Bull Ice Cross World Championships burst onto the scene this season with eight high-speed races. The events, hosted by the All Terrain Skate Cross (ATSX) Federation, saw skaters push it to the limit at speeds of up to 80kph on the tricky tracks.
Here are five of the best moments from a shortened season, which ended with American Cameron Naasz clinching his fourth title, Canadian Jacqueline Legere an historic third Women's title and a Junior title for Finn Leevi Nakari.

1. Tightest finish in Red Bull Ice Cross history?
Due to the final ATSX 1000 stop in Moscow being cancelled, it was the Yokohama Men's final that proved to be the deciding championship race. It was Cameron Naasz who stole the headlines, as he appeared to push flying Finn Mirko Lahti early on and then held his nerve to pip old rival Kyle Croxall by a blade width as they both lunged to the line to seal a fourth Men's title.

2. Emotional victory for Plante
The Women's final in Japan ended in a big upset, as Canadian Maxie Plante rocketed out of the starting gate and held off a fast charging Legere and a stumbling Amanda Trunzo down the last straight to clinch an emotional victory that was a long time in coming. The Summit Air pilot said: "It was incredible. It took some time for me to realise. I've been waiting for that moment so long. I lost track."

3. Three heavyweights battle to the line
The third stop on the calendar, at American resort Mont du Lac, provided the first big moment of the season. The race really shook up the title standings, as heavy snowfall and tricky wind conditions saw Legere hit the sidewall in the final, with compatriot Myriam Trépanier's late mistake handing local star Trunzo the win and early overall lead.

4. Renaud takes a tumble through the sidewall
In the Men's Mont du Lac races, it wasn't the final but the earlier rounds that caught the eye, as Canadian Shayne Renaud hit the deck spectacularly and flew face first through the sidewall on the home straight. He might have missed out on a place in the final that saw 2012 world champion Kyle Croxall go hell for leather to edge out Naasz, but Renaud came out of the incident with his health intact, even if his pride might've taken a hit.

5. Drama on the ice
The first ATSX 1000 stop in Yokohama was not without controversy. In the Men's semi-final, two-time world champion Scott Croxall was adjudged to have pushed Luca Dallago into the sidewall after the Austrian had snuck in between him and brother Kyle. It gave Kyle an easy run to victory, but the move saw Scott disqualified and Dallago less than happy!
