What is a Danfo?

A Danfo, my friend, is not just a mode of transport; it's a legendary experience in Lagos! Picture this: a bright yellow bus adorned with bold black stripes, racing through the streets of the city, carrying passengers who bring their own brand of drama and laughter to the journey. It's like a mobile theater, a rollercoaster of emotions, and an unforgettable adventure all in one.
Danfo like the Molue emerged in the 1970s. The origin of the word "danfo" is not certain, but some say it means "hurry" in Yoruba. The first Danfo buses were Volkswagen Kombi buses which had twelve passengers.
Danfo buses are small and yellow-painted with double black stripes, they are the most popular and cheapest means of commuting from place to place in Lagos. They make regular stops at all bus stops and also undesignated stops to pick up passengers along their specific routes.
The danfo has become the main means of commercial transport in Lagos because it plies virtually all bus routes. And also a major source of entertainment for the inhabitants of Lagos.
