Burton US Open 2017 Womens Slopestyle Finals
After some heavy showings in the semi-finals from both the men and women, expectations were as high as ever as competitors gathered at the top of the course for what promised to be a show-stopping day of slopestyle. Great expectations were surpassed by greater performances.
On the women's side of the draw, it was the Austrian phenom in the way of Anna Gasser who took home top honours. While Gasser went down on the final hit of her first run, she made her intentions well known when she opened her first jump with a massive Cab Double Underflip before sending it on an unsuccessful Frontside 720. Without skipping a beat, Gasser repeated her run and nailed each hit to perfection scoring a strong 83.85 and solidifying her spot atop the podium ahead of Jamie Anderson and Spencer O'Brien.

On the men's side of the draw, Mark McMorris came out of the gates ablaze, nailing a massive score of 86.95, near-silencing the field from round one until his sweet victory lap (which, of course, included one fine tweaked and lofty method for the crowd). For first-place qualifier Sven Thorgran, it was a game of catch-up from the get-go, despite a heavy stomped run scoring 81.85, enough to earn him third place. For second-place-finisher Michael Ciccarelli, it was a late charge on his third run that boosted him from low on the standings via a healthy 82.65. But, up against McMorris's 86.95, nothing could match up.
After you finish celebrating on behalf of Gasser and McMorris, don't forget to tune back in tomorrow to Red Bull TV to catch the Superpipe finals at 11:10am mountain time (6.10pm UTC/7.10pm CET) for the women's and 2pm mountain time (9pm UTC/10pm CET) for the men's.
