Alexandre ‘gAuLeS’ Borba Chiqueta first discovered Counter-Strike at the age of 14, during a visit to a gaming centre, and the first seeds were sown in his mind of the idea of becoming a pro-gamer with the team that played at the centre at the time.
That idea came to fruition shortly afterwards when the team (Monkey Tatuapé) formed a junior roster and gAuLeS was given the roles of player and manager of the side.
That led, four years later, to the founding of g3nerationX (g3x), with fellow players Igor ‘vip’ Melro, Rodrigo ‘crash’ Rodrigues, ‘Mee’ and ‘Feijaum’ and the team went on to have plenty of success and finished 7th-8th in the 2001 WCG in Seoul, South Korea.
He made his debut as a coach in 2007 with mibr (having retired as a player) and he became the first-ever Counter Strike pro to win a recognised international tournament as coach at DreamHack Winter 2007.
Then, gAuLeS took a break from the scene and completed a degree in marketing and founded a production company, as well as leading significant projects in the community.
In 2017, gAuLeS began his streaming career on Twitch, running courses to assist people who wanted to become pro-gamers as well as other Counter-Strike content and his personal history in the game.
Having grown his audience hugely in recent years, gAuLeS is a currently a full-time streamer, where he regularly broadcasts numerous CS:GO tournaments in the Portuguese language, and is an instantly recognisable voice in the scene.
