Ozzie Wright in the RAW is the only way to watch him surf
Eclectic Australian surfer Ozzie Wright steps away from the Goons of Doom stage and in front of the lens of Jimmy Kinnaird to bring us three minutes of pure surfing fun.
Ozzie is many things. An artist. A musician. A filmer. A father. And, of course, Ozzie is one hell of a surfer. While non-world-tour style surfing has blossomed with the last few generations of young surfers, who aren't afraid to use entire waves for one big air, Ozzie has been emitting a solid, steady static hum in the background of the raw free surfing canon.
Since the '90s, fans of surfing's less buttoned-up fringes have been entertained by Ozzie's antics in the water. His unconventional airs and cliff dives into ankle-breakingly shallow water have always been favourites. Later, in the 2000s, fans of punk rock were drawn to Ozzie's band, a true punk crew, the Goons of Doom.
Get him in some proper waves, or in a more mellow mood, however, and you will see that Ozzie Wright, the old salt that he is, has the kind of style and grace that any surfer would love to have.
In this RAW edit from long-time Ozzie filmer and friend Jimmy Jazz Kinnaird, we get the best of all Ozzie's personalities in the surf, from the wild to the tempered. If you're in the market for a few minutes of old school pure surf action, you've come to the right place. Stop reading and click above!
