As the name suggests, it’s extreme bike action in extreme locations. A sport that takes cross country endurance riding and adds elements of trials riding, motocross and pure sadism as competitors take on some of the gnarliest terrain on the planet, terrain that’s often strewn with manmade obstacles such as log jumps, huge boulders and deep trenches.
It’s not for the faint-hearted.
3 minWhat the hell is hard enduro? Hard enduro is back. Now what exactly is it?
Hard Enduro is also characterised by the variety of events. Hell’s Gate and The Tough One are quick and punishing sprints, while Red Bull Romaniacs is a marathon – a marathon made up of punishing sprints and gruelling slogs through the beautiful mountains of Transylvania.
Top of a heap of twisted metal is the Erbergrodeo which peaks with the Red Bull Hare Scramble. It’s a four-day race around an iron mine in Austria with a festival atmosphere that finishes with a torture ride over the top of the mountain through the infamous Carl’s Dinner.
But what also sets Hard Enduro apart is the spirit of the competition: all the events are open to all-comers, allowing hobby riders and privateers to compete side-by-side with the elite riders.
