Be it the Bahamas or Berlin, Goa or Gilgit, Istanbul or Islamabad, Pakistani indie musician Shamoon Ismail’s travel playlist is a high-power, fireball company.
You are on the road either with friends, family or just by yourself. What is there to do but to look at the environment around you. It could be that you are someone who enjoys silence or you are of a different breed and actually want to lose yourself in your travels while listening to some music while sipping on some good ol’ Red Bull for extra “wiiings”.

If you are the latter, then popular Pakistani artist, Shamoon Ismail’s playlist might interest you. Ismail is one of the leading indie artists in Pakistan, known for introducing a new genre to the local community called "Punjabi Blues".
His singles such as Marijuana have given him a passionate fan base as well critical acclaim among fellow musicians. He has performed all across the country, including popular music festivals like Music Mela and Lahore Music Meet.
We recently asked Ismail what kind of music he listens to during his travels. His reply was quite simple: “I listen to anything and everything according to my mood.” It could be background scores, blues music, rap and just about most instrument-based genres. He gladly shared his ideal travel playlist.
Each song has its own feel and caters to different motivations for said travels. Drake’s omerta addresses his tussles with other rappers as well as people that tried to knock him down. The beat of the song pumps you up like no other, while the lyrics, as Eminem would say, may put you in the mood to “wanna fight and write songs that say what I wanna say to the kid that said that I eyeballed him.” Just don’t break no bus seats if the adrenaline gets too high. Focus on the sunset.
Ariana Grande’s ‘Bloodline’ is a great travel song if the purpose of your journey is to forget your past love. Lyrics such as “Don't want you in my bloodline” nail home the point of moving on. On the same note, Post Malone’s ‘Goodbyes’, like the title states, is all about goodbyes, the beat of the music is on point on top post Malone’s one of a kind style.
‘Spicy’ by Herve Pagez and Diplo gives you that old retro feel fused with the contemporary electronic neon-filled vibe.
‘Otro Trago’ by Sech and Darell is your good old party song that works in all situations. Its reggae-like tempo seamlessly fused with rap works its charm every single time. Whether it’s during a long drive or trekking or while chilling by the beach, Otro Trago (which translates to ‘another drink’) will be like your another Red Bull can, putting you up to speed with the travel schedule.

‘Project Dreams’ by Marshmello and Roddy Ricch enhances the aforementioned mood. The beat is absolutely fire and the lyrics are high energy. One can imagine listening to this banger with friends in the car.
Ismail’s playlist serves multiple purposes but all in all, it maintains your energy levels throughout the long travels while giving you some electric vibes. After this, it might just make it hard to say goodbye to your chosen destination.
