Dota 2 tournaments to watch in the coming months

Whether you support a team, a player or just enjoy watching Dota 2 - the next couple of months will be exciting as a couple of Majors, and a Minor, will determine which teams who'll qualify for TI.

Anyone who watched TI 2018 (The International 2018), or any other of the major tournaments, knows how much fun Dota 2 is to watch. Everything surrounding the games - the excitement, the hype, the sold-out arenas, the underdog Cinderella-stories and the fall, or rise, of champions. Dota 2 have it all. If you know what we’re talking about, just enjoy the read (and perhaps put the dates in your calendars). If you're not into Dota 2 just yet, these tournaments are the perfect gateway for you to get you going. You can thank us later. The Dota 2 year hit the ground running with ESL One Katowice and will surely continue on the same trajectory with these upcoming events.
DreamLeague Season 11
DreamLeague Season 11 is the third Major on the Dota Pro Circuit season. Beside The International 2019, this tournament is as big as it gets. Held at Annexet in Stockholm from March 14 to 24, some of the best teams in the world will compete against each other over a prize pool of $1,000,000 USD and 15,000 Pro Circuit Points. The Dota Pro Circuit season is the major Dota 2 league, leading up to the “grande finale” The International in August. The last three days of the event will be open for the public.

ESL One Mumbai
ESL One in Mumbai will be India’s first major Dota 2 Event. Four teams from regional qualifiers and seven invites, constitutes the best teams in the world, together with India’s best team, will battle it out in this tournament which have a prize pool of $300,000 USD. The event will be held at the NSCI Dome. Be sure that it will be filled to the brim with fans. All the teams except one have been announced. Among the teams to keep an extra eye on is Gambit Sport, who came second in ESL One Katowice, and Signify, India’s representative. The event will be held from April 19 to 21.
AMD Sapphire DOTA Pit Minor
The AMD Sapphire DOTA Pit Minor is a competition that’ll, on top of the $300,000 USD prize pool, give the teams Pro Circuit Points, or qualification points to The International 2019 in Shanghai. If you’re a Dota 2 team with any ambition, your goal is definitely to compete in The International. The winner of AMD Sapphire DOTA Pit Minor will qualify directly to the MDL DisneyLand Paris Major. Minors are a great chance for up and coming teams to make their mark on the competitive Dota 2 scene. The tournament will be held in Split at Spaladium Arena from April 22 to 28.

MDL DisneyLand Paris Major
The MDL DisneyLand Paris Major is held in Paris at DisneyLand Paris from May 4 to 12. Part of the 2018-19 Dota Pro Circuit, the tournament will, beside the $1,000,000 USD prize pool, contain 15,000 Pro Circuit Points. 16 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world will compete in this Major. The venue, DisneyLand Paris, will surely make for a grand stage for an esports tournament. Just imagine an esports tournament held around a Disney castle. Mind-boggling.

ESL One Birmingham
ESL One Birmingham is already a legendary event after their first tournament in 2018. It was the fastest selling ESL One Dota 2 event to date, and it’s not a shocker if the feat will be repeated. The brummies sure love their esports. Like the ESL One event in Mumbai, the team selection is similar with eight invites and four qualified teams from each region. The tournament will be held at the Arena Birmingham from May 28 to June 2. As with ESL One Mumbai, the prize pool will be $300,000 USD.
