The world's most successful Dota team announced back in December 2019, that they were branching out into another esport: CS:GO. We are used to see the TI juggernauts owning on the Dota stage, but never in a FPS. Naturally, we all got excited.
Since joining the competitive scene of CS:GO, OG have surprised many of the non-believers. Usually, newly formed teams won't make much of an impact in the beginning of their journey. Often, teams need to gel together, get to know each other in a competitive environment and also, learn to play as a team rather than individuals. And this might still be true for OG. However, they have started pretty damn good. And if the early signs are anything to go by, this team will accomplish great things.

OG haven't had the chance to participate in a lot of tournaments yet, but the tournaments they've played in, they've been a pleasant surprise. The A-tier cs_summit 5 competition - OG's first ever competition - finished in a 3rd place, drawing with teams like Virtus.Pro and G2 Esports - losing only to the team that won the competition: mousesports.

IEM Season XIV - World Championship: European Open Qualifier #2 was the first real test for OG. They faced all of the major European teams. After fierce competition and many close games, OG ultimately didn't qualify (only the top 4 teams did), but finished in a respected 6th place, out of 32 teams. Not bad for a team new to the scene.
Next up was the BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 Regular Season. A S-tier competition, the highest ranked tournaments of CS:GO. Going far in the Regular Season means that you'll qualify for the Blast Pro Finals. A place that you really want to be at if you are a competitive CS:GO team. This was also the competition that put OG on the map. Underdogs and a desire to prove themselves, they fought tooth and nail. Playing in a competition that hosted FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, Team Liquid, G2 Esports, Astralis and NiP, to name a few of the top teams, is a daunting task. However, OG proved themselves equal to the it. Beating Evil Geniuses twice in spectacular fashions in the playoffs - they eventually lost to G2 Esports in the grand finals. But not before qualifying to the Blast Pro Finals, leaving many of the games absolute elite teams behind.
Is OG the real deal? Early signs suggests that. We are all looking forward to the Blast Pro Finals in June. And while you wait, don't forget to follow Red Bull Gaming for all the latest esports and gaming news.
