With 6000 sqm of extreme sport goodness, the new indoor adrenaline zone The Dome in Gävle is one of the coolest things to hit Sweden. Within these walls bikers, skaters, skiers, snowboarders, kick-bikers and freerunners will be able to practice side-by-side, thanks to a one-of-a-kind layout that has everyone very excited. This arena not only has the very latest revolutionary technology (like an airbag that allows you to land your tricks and ride away) it also has a huge, 3-room layout, 11 different extreme sport activities, specially designed features for both beginners and pros and an in-house store and rental shop. This is the place for extreme sport dreams to come true.

Less than 3 weeks to opening day

Although this place sounds like a dream, it is very much reality. Opening day is just shy of 2 weeks away and is set for the 10th of February. “We are so excited to finally open up”, part owner Joakim Kumlin says. He and his partner Theo Blanco (who started the Trampoline park Turbo in Uppsala) have been working on this project for over two years and have big plans for the future. ”We hope to attract extreme sport people from all over Scandinavia as this place is unique – there is nothing like it in any of our neighbouring countries. We really hope it can become a hotspot for professionals as well as beginners and amateurs”.

The park and its features are designed so that all levels of riders, skiers and skaters can have fun and progress their riding – whether it is to kick ass at the next Olympics or just to impress mates. Slopestyle extraordinaire Martin Söderström see big potential in this place and is really looking forward to opening day: “I am especially excited about the airbag and I can see myself spending a lot of time in this place”.

The coolest 3-room layout

The Dome has three different rooms: Jump and Pump, Street Park and Unlimited Zone
The Jump and Pump room has a foam pit as well as an airbag, resi wallride and a pumptrack. The room’s total area is 1300 sqm, the foam pit is 20x8 meters, the roof is 12 meters high and the start ramp is 9 meter high. In other words, it’s a place where you can both think big and go big.
One of the coolest features in the room is the airbag, which isn’t just your average airbag. It’s got the very latest technology developed to mimic a real landing ramp, but with the benefits of airbag impact absorption if anything goes wrong. Basically – you can practice your new trick into an airbag and if you land it, you can ride away. “It’s like landing in powder”, co-owner Joakim Kumlin explains. It could be the most revolutionary thing to hit freestyle action sport in years. To make sure all extreme sport junkies get to reap the benefits of this, The Dome has created specially designed skis and snowboards with wheels so that snow sport people can practice their tricks together with the bikers, skaters and kickbikers.
The next room in line is the Street Park room that with its bowls and street riding features like rails, drops and banks is the perfect hangout for BMXers, skaters and inliners.
The last room is the one that differs the most from the other two - the Unlimited Zone. It’s basically a trampoline park on steroids with some extra Ninja Warrior courses, Parkour features and climbing walls combined into one. It’s a room to practice your stunts, flips, monkey bars and climbing skills.
