The enigmatic rapper will be bringing his brand of hip-hop to Singapore on 5 Dec for one night only
In a world full of rappers claiming to be one of a kind, Le1f (born Khalif Diouf) is a real deal original, a fascinatingly complicated personality full of seeming contractions. Hailing from New York City, the Amercian rapper and producer has made a name for himself, from his unorthodox production styles to his openness about his sexuality as a gay MC. A Red Bull Music Academy Alumnus since 2013, he runs his own record label Camp & Street with styles rooted in Tunnel bangers from a less socially enlightened era of hip-hop. Le1f is a product of the glossy Bling Era rap hits that he came to age on, and the downtown electronic scene where he developed as an artist.
Initially producing tracks for hip-hop group Das Racist, such as their popular debut single "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell". His debut mixtape “Dark York“ marked his arrival as a solo artist, and is true to both sides of his heritage. Its lead single, the 5kinAndBone5-produced "Wut" garnered attention as the standout track from the project and manifested into a music video in June 2012.
Fly Zone , his second mixtape was released to generally favorable reviews in January 2013 and later spawned a video for the successful "Spa Day". The mixtape featured guest appearances from artists such as Heems, Don Christian, and Kitty.
In September 2013, Diouf released his third full-length mixtape Tree House and later accompanied it with a music video for the second single "Hush Bb”. In February 2013, Terrible Records announced Diouf's record deal as well as his latest EP, a five-track project titled Hey, released on March 11, 2014.
Le1f will be performing in Singapore on 5 Dec, headlining the Official Pre-Zoukout party 2014, a invite-only party that is jointly organised by Red Bull Music Academy & Zouk. If you haven’t got your invite, head on over to redbull.sg/le1f
