Galacian artist Alex Silva started out in punk bands, but he's far too interested in making music that energises and surprises people to stick to one genre for too long. Having first hit the electronic circuit as the more dancefloor-tilted Astroboyz, he's now making exuberantly madcap electronica in his own name, with the aid of a live drummer and a customised modular synth.
Currently based in Baltimore, USA, where he runs his own label Canadian Duck Tapes, this Red Bull Music Academy alumnus released his first album as Alex Silva in 2017. In this See. Hear. Now. session, you can watch him play a track from his Mind Pattern Explorer record, the Dan Deacon-influenced Cable Salad, as well as unreleased newbie Paralogize. The latter draws on his interest in Japanese musicians Cornelius and Haruomi Hosono.
