I have lived here all my life, waking up every day to the sight of The Torch Man and wondering what it would be like to ski it.

In the X Games park on the other side of the valley conditions are perfect and Hunder has been able to test both the slopestyle course and the big air this week. For a retired competition skier, seeing the sport’s biggest event take place in literary his own backyard is a strange experience.
"Growing up in this ski resort, I never would have believed this could happen. The X Games slopestyle course is placed exactly where I started learning spins on the side jumps and stuff like that, so that’s quite absurd. Just seeing the lights and hearing the construction work, it is sick that X Games actually has come here. But it’s awesome!"
Are you a bit jealous of the Norwegian skiers and snowboarders who get to experience this now in your backyard?
”I am jealous, it would have been awesome to ski here on my home turf. If it had been a couple of years ago, maybe, but now the level of skiing is so high that it’s so hard to keep up with the young guns”.

”Øystein hasn’t set foot on the breaks since Aspen and you could say he is a strong favourite here. He is in the zone and skiing so well. There are many strong competitors but he is one of the biggest favourites. It is a good course, very playful, and it’s a nice arena. It should be a great show!
