Making its return to AMA Motocross this year is the legendary Red Bull Glen Helen National on May 24. Located in America’s mecca of motocross, Southern California, the track is breathtaking. Much of it is built into the side of a large mountain and as a result it has steep signature climbs followed by stomach-displacing drops as riders descend back down the mountain.
It boasts more elevation change than any other track on the circuit, contains huge, spectacular jumps and always gets rough and nasty, which makes for an extremely demanding track that leaves even the world’s best riders exhausted after 30 plus two.
The extremely long start stretch is followed by a large banked right-hander, which makes for one of the fastest and most exciting starts in motocross.
Check out this helmet cam footage from James Stewart below to get an idea of the basic track layout.
