Anna Gasser stomps world's first female Cab Triple Underflip
Austrian Big Air powerhouse Anna Gasser catapults female snowboarding into new spheres yet again.
If there were any remaining doubts that Anna Gasser is the most progressive female snowboarder on the planet, they were put to bed this week. The 27-year-old Austrian Big Air and Slopestyle powerhouse has become the first woman to stomp a triple underflip. A Cab 1260 Triple Underflip, to be precise. First try. This is HUGE.

Usually when I want to try a new trick I know in the morning that I want to try it. Today was different as the big jump was in good shape. I just went for it without telling anyone, and I stomped it! I’m so stoked! This trick was one of my bigger goals but I didn’t think I’d be able to land it that early in the season!
Does this mean that the technical gap between men and women is closing? Or that one day we’ll see this become a standard trick in women’s Big Air contests? Will Anna stop at the triple, or is she already resetting her sights on the Quad?
The simple answer is, we don’t know. But seeing Anna Gasser stomping a Cab 1260 Triple Underflip on the Stubai Glacier, Austria, in November 2018 shows us one thing: limits only exist in the mind, and Anna’s limits are on the next level.

Anna, tell us about this milestone and the Cab Triple Underflip you stomped today?
Yesterday it didn't look very promising, because there was some wind forecast, but then it turned out to be the perfect day up here at the Stubai Glacier and I was able to do my first few hits on the big Prime Park Sessions kicker line. Everything felt so natural and after a few warm-up jumps I started to step it up a bit – my first few double corks on the huge kicker felt really good. So after a while I decided to just go for the triple. The take-off was in perfect condition, I had a lot of pop and felt in control in the air – so I just decided to go for it! In the end I did it on the first try and I am super-stoked everything worked out so early in the season.
What's so hard about the trick and did you try it on the airbag before?
I tried it once before on the airbag at Kreischberg, but it didn't feel very good and I was about to take that goal off my list. It's a trick with consequences, and you really have to put everything on the line if you want to succeed. You can easily overrotate on the third flip which makes landing safely impossible. Today it just felt right, and I am happy I ticked that one off my list – it doesn't feel like such a big thing, but I guess it's another milestone in women's snowboarding!
Do you think you will show this trick in the upcoming competitions?
I think it's possible to do it at the X Games and at all the comps with bigger jumps, but I don't think I will show it at in-city contests. My focus is on technical, more challenging tricks, and my goal is to become better in all aspects of snowboarding – there's still so much to learn and that is what excites me a lot! I am stoked this box is ticked, that I overcame my fear and tested my courage one more time.
