Spring has finally arrived, and while that means more hours of daylight, the games industry would rather you stayed indoors. April has plenty of brilliant video games on the way that'll keep us glued to our screens, regardless of the weather.
At least Nintendo's portable Switch will let you head out and play anywhere you fancy, and with more games on the way, we're very much looking forward to that possibility. So join us as we take a look at the top titles on the way this month that you should definitely be playing.

Persona 5

It's been a long time coming for fans of the series, but even if you're not at all interested in Atlus's long-running franchise, or think Shin Megami Tensei is a ramen topping, we urge you to take a chance on Persona 5.
The latest in the series is amazingly stylish, incredibly deep and flips millennial tropes on their heads, all while you fight weird and wonderful monsters – what's not to like? Hit play on the trailer above to get a taste of what to expect, and grab it on PS4 when it lands.
Release: PS4, PS3, April 4

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

Bulletstorm is back

2011's ridiculous, over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm let you rack up points based on the way you take down your enemies, and it's now getting a high-def lick of paint with a PS4, Xbox One and PC remaster, letting you set high scores in absurd ways all over again.
People Can Fly will be delivering you the Full Clip Edition this month, which also includes brand-new game modes and 4K visuals on PC and PS4 Pro, and if you're keen to pre-order, you'll also get Duke Nukem as a playable character, complete with cheesy lines and all.
Release: PS4, Xbox One, PC, 7 April

Yooka-Laylee

If you've been hankering for a new Banjo-Kazooie-style game ever since Rare was purchased by Microsoft way back in 2002, you're in luck this month. Crafted by Playtonic Games, a studio formed by former Donkey Kong Country and Banjo-Kazooie devs, Yooka-Laylee continues the collect-a-thon-style gameplay that the N64 era made popular, only with a spot of modern polish and a new set of characters to explore and enjoy.
It's been over two years since the project went live on Kickstarter, raising over £2 million (€2.33m) in the process, and you'll soon be able to have your very own copy in your hands. And while the Wii U version was canned, Playtonic is looking at a Switch version for later on in the year.
Release: PS4, Xbox One, PC, 11 April

Stardew Valley: Collector’s Edition

Eric Barone's indie farming darling, Stardew Valley, has already taken the world by storm, giving you a modern spin on Harvest Moon's classic formula mixed with a slice of Animal Crossing, and millions of you simply can't put it down.
It's already out as a download on PS4, Xbox One and PC, but 505 Games is bringing a physical version of the game to stores near you, giving you a disc version of the game and a copy of Stardew Valley's relaxing soundtrack, plus a map of Pelican Town and a mini version of the Stardew Valley Guidebook. Get your hands on it later this month, and look forward to a Nintendo Switch version popping up later on in the year.
Release: PS4, Xbox One, 11 April

Syberia 3

The weird and wonderful steampunk-inspired series Syberia is back for a third outing, picking up on the adventures of American lawyer Kate Walker as you jump into her boots and take her across Europe and Russia. Just like the previous games, it retains much of the same point and click style-gameplay that the Broken Sword and Monkey Island games helped popularise, and it's down to you to help out Kate on her adventure as her quest goes from continent to continent. Look forward to a Switch version later in the year too.
Release: PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, 21 April

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

If you missed it the first time around on the Wii U, here's your second chance: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is being re-released on the Switch, giving you another shot at tackling Nintendo's latest and greatest racer to date – and it's even better, as you can take it on the go too.
Touted as the definitive version of the game, MK8D packs in all the DLC from the Wii U version, as well as a revamped battle mode, two new characters in the form of Splatoon's Inklings and the return of King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. Now, if only Nintendo would get to work on a new F-Zero game.
Release: Nintendo Switch, 28 April

Dragon Quest Heroes 2

Square Enix's Dragon Quest series started life as an old school JRPG, but the sequel to 2015's surprisingly delightful hack 'n slash set in the same universe is set to drop later this month, promising to deliver you even more swords, sorcery and lovable slime monsters.
If you're down for hacking your way through endless hordes of magical beasts and fantastical creatures, this could be right up your alley. And with a Nintendo Switch version also in the works, you'll soon be able to take your quest on the road too.
Release: PS4, PC, 28 April
