At three years old, he made his dance debut on the kids' TV show Hip Hop Harry, while honing his moves in his living room to a constant stream of Michael Jackson records his mum had on rotation.
In his teens, the self-taught hip-hop freestyler branched out from breaking into other street styles. Capjay's first love was basketball, but after entering a dance battle in Las Vegas, he was instantly hooked by the adrenaline of competition, the freedom of expression and the energy of the crowd. His dreams of becoming a basketball player were history.
Laser-focused on the craft, with a multi-disciplinary approach
A self-professed “dance addict,” Capjay moved to LA, determined to take his art and career to new heights.
As a beat maker, he brings a musical instinct to his dancing, fusing a plethora of hip-hop styles with clever wordplay, popping, intricate footwork and limit-defying power moves.
When he's not competing, he's thinking about dance: watching battles, choreographing, producing music for dancers on SoundCloud under the moniker Capbeats and plotting his next move. He's already looking beyond dance, too, with ambitions to expand his world into fashion - a natural progression for someone known for his collection of fly hats.
“My dream is for hip-hop dancers to reach the same level as rappers and artists when it comes to fame and love. I want to be one of the best hip-hop dancers to ever exist, one of those pillars that grows our culture and brings a whole bunch of attention to what we're doing over here in the US. I want to touch the choreography world and spill my experience as a mentor, inspiring younger peeps to go crazy in battles.”
A world champion who builds culture
In 2025, he claimed double gold at the World DanceSport Federation World Championship in Bucharest, Romania, winning both the Youth Hip-Hop Freestyle 1 vs 1 and Adult Freestyle 2 vs 2 (alongside his partner Taktic). He consolidated this momentum by capturing the Red Bull Dance Your Style South USA title in Tampa, before advancing to the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final USA, where he built a rapidly growing global fanbase.
The victories continued into 2026. In July, he won the 2 vs 2 hip-hop battle at Italy’s prestigious Give It Up, partnering with Red Bull All Star The D Soraki - a collaboration that confirmed his standing among the street dance elite.
He is the founder of three battle platforms: The Deepend Sesh, District 12X and Shadow Park. With these he is enabling dancers to test and grow their skills, while being a globally sought-after workshop teacher and judge.
