Carson Brown rode motorcycles before most kids mastered trikes. The Washingtonian racer’s passion quickly evolved into a profession.
Brown Brothers Racing provided the resources and training grounds for him to evolve into a jack-of-all-trades in the motorcycle world.
“My dad and his brother started Brown Brothers Racing” Brown said. “I absolutely loved it. Started riding when I was about three and it pretty much went from there.”
Starting on a PW50, Brown quickly graduated to an XR50. He turned pro in 2018. Brown excelled within the parameters of the machine. Bike builds have become a hobby for Brown, who offers his expertise via YouTube.
The unpredictable climate and terrain in the Northwest helped shape the popular privateer into the racer he is today. While training in California during winter is a change of scenery, Brown feels he benefits from Washington’s wet conditions.
“Six months out of the year, it's pretty much raining and muddy and there's not a lot going on. I wasn't riding perfectly groomed tracks or just in the dry all the time. I was out riding the rain, the ruts, the rocks, through the trees, doing anything I could just to make it through the winter.
The gnarlier the course, the better for Brown, as he proved when the skies opened during the Red Bull Straight Rhythm revival at Huntington Beach in 2022. The two-stroke sizzler claimed his second-consecutive title.
As an owner/operator, Brown has relied on the support of family, friends and fans to continue his quest. The support of the Pacific Northwest was no stronger than when Brown initiated his “fan bike” promotion for his 250 two-stroke at Washougal a couple of years ago. Benefactors paid to place over 100 different personal logos on his bike. Brown felt like the fans were truly invested in the process.
In 2022, Brown was recruited as a substitute rider with AEO Powersports KTM team for the 250 West Coast Supercross series. He finished 11th in the standings. While Brown wonders what he could accomplish with backing from a factory team, for now he’s content with racing wherever and whenever he wants.
“I want to be known as the guy that can do anything and just loves dirt bikes—anything with two wheels. I want to spread the joy of it and show that we can race it all. I wouldn’t trade what I’m doing for anything."
