Jack Crawford's origin story isn't an uncommon one among elite professional athletes. Started young? Check - Jack was just six years old when he strapped into skis for the first time. Competed early? Check - he took part in his first contests at the age of nine. Role model in the family? Check - his aunt, Judy Crawford, finished fourth in the Slalom at the Sapporo Winter Olympics in 1972. It's a tried and trusted recipe for success, which also clearly worked on his older sister, Candace, who's on the Canadian ski team as well.

The first step on the path to achieving that success for Jack came on the scariest stage of all; aged just 18, he made his World Cup debut on the Streif in Kitzbühel, Austria in January 2016. Having tested himself against the most feared ski run on the circuit must've been a decent confidence boost because, a month later, he won silver in the Super-G at the Junior World Championships.
