In 2008, Senad Grosic turned from competitor to test-track dummy when he took on a 2.9m-high ramp being prepared for freestyle motocross. The Austrian rider used a coal mine near Riedersbach and his landing hill was a dusty pile of coal. Since it was impossible to get a running start in the deep coal sand, he used a conveyor belt that was 60m long and 80cm wide to pick up the speed he needed to perform tricks – a backflip and backflip no-hander.

It was typical of a rider who first made his mark on the BMX world in 2003, and who went on to take the prestigious titles of Austrian King of Dirt and Red Bull Dirt Ride Champion in 2004. Grosic has continued to compete in contests throughout Europe, and in 2010 completed a tour of Saudi Arabia as an ambassador for his sport.
