Dominate the pitch with some of the best value players from Ligue 1 in the new FIFA Ultimate Team.
The Ligue 1's main stars are Neymar Jr and Kylain Mbappe, but both players cost 1,100,000 FUT coins combined in FIFA 19. There are plenty of players capable of performing well for your team in high-level Weekend League games who cost a lot less, though. Here's a look at the best Ligue 1 side for under 300,000 coins. These are guide prices so you may be able to get these players for more or less, as the markets fluctuate.
GK – Gianluigi Buffon
PSG's acquisition of Gianluigi Buffon stemmed from their need of multiple quality options in goal, something they now have, with the 36-year-old legend and Alphonse Areola now being utilised by manager Thomas Tuchel.
On FUT, Buffon is by far the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1, whilst also being one of the best in the entire game. His reflexes are rated 83, which is a bit on the low side compared to other goalkeepers, but with 88 diving and 90 positioning, the Italian shot-stopper knows how to get into the right positions to make a save.
CB – Thiago Silva
Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world. He's got the accolades and performances to prove it, which is why he's so highly rated on FIFA 19.
Silva has a base pace rating of 70 so with a Shadow chemistry style his pace goes up to 83, and his defending stat also increases to 96, allowing him to keep up with any attacker on the game if they don't have acres of space to run in behind.
CB – Prensel Kimpembe
Prensel Kimpembe wasn't a player anybody really thought of using in FIFA 18 until the game's latter stages, when the young Frenchman received a considerable boost to his base card after winning the World Cup with France.
Luckily for us EA made him usable from the get-go, having been given a rating of 83, five stat points up from his FIFA 18 rating. The most sought after stats on defenders are pace, defending, and physicality – Kimpembe has them all in abundance, which is why he cost around 18k coins at the start of the game. You can now buy his card for 3.5k, though.
He's got 77 pace, 82 defending, and 83 physicality, and with a Shadow chem style he turns into an elite defender, as his pace goes up to 89 and his overall defensive rating becomes 90.
LB – Ferland Mendy
Price: 700 coins
Despite having a rating of 77, Ferland Mendy is the best Ligue 1 left-back on FUT, and he costs just 700 coins. His base stats aren't particularly impressive, but he's got enough pace (87) for him to enjoy the benefits of a good chemistry style, such as Shadow, Anchor, or Sentinel.
In a bid to boost his strength and defensive ability, we recommend you apply a Sentinel chemistry style on Mendy's card, as it'll give his strength, jumping, marking, and aggression stats +10 boosts, which will allow him to dominate the left flank.
RB – Thomas Meunier
Belgium international Thomas Meunier is often overlooked on FUT, because he lacks blistering pace (82). Thanks to how his stats are distributed, though, he's one of the most versatile players in the game, and an amazing right-back.
First and foremost, Meunier isn't nimble on the ball. His touches feel heavy, and making sharp turns with him is going to be difficult. What he is capable of, though, is making overlapping and inverted runs down the flanks, and into the middle of the park, thwarting incoming attacks, whipping in crosses, and yes, scoring goals.
Unlike most defenders, Meunier is able to find the back of the net thanks to his 76 finishing stat. Should you apply a Shadow chemistry style to his card, Meunier will have 90 pace, which will give him enough speed to get in behind your opponent's defence and make himself available for a shot across goal.
CM – Adrien Rabiot
With how easy it is to apply pressure on FIFA 19, you need physical players in your midfield, and standing at 6'4", and with 73 jumping and 80 strength, Adrien Rabiot is one of the best cheap midfielders to have in your Ligue 1 squad.
Rabiot's agility is rated 79, which means he's not particularly smooth on the ball, but he's not clunky either. He's able to turn away from players with relative ease and utilise his 3-star skill moves to evade players in a congested midfield.
The best chemistry style for Rabiot is Shadow, as he's already tall enough to win any aerial duel, but lacks the pace required to chase elite players down.
CM – Marco Verratti
Marco Verratti is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the world. He's great at dictating the tempo of games and intercepting the ball for PSG, and has been instrumental to their success in the Ligue 1 over the past couple of season – he can do the same for your FUT club.
Standing at 5'5", you'd do well to avoid crossing the ball to Verratti in congested areas, as he's not tall enough to win aerial duels consistently, but where the Italy international excels is sitting deep in midfield.
With 87 agility, 93 composure, 90 short passing, and 84 interceptions, Verratti is skilled at distributing the ball, finding space in tight areas, and winning the ball back with aggressive interceptions.
CAM – Nabil Fekir
Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir is easily one of the best NIF attacking midfielders on FIFA 19. He's got a low centre of gravity and a strength rating of 81 to go with it.
Fekir's dribbling is his best stat. He's got 90 agility, 91 balance, and 89 composure, which means he's able to weave in and out of defensive lines with relative ease. He's got a 3-star weak foot, which makes it difficult to score goals with his right foot, but apart from that, for just 10k coins, Nabil Fekir's card is a must-have for any budget Ligue 1 side.
RW – SIF Nicolas Pepe
Nicolas Pepe graced TOTW 14 with his presence, having earned himself a second In Form card after his superb performance in the weekend.
Rated 84, SIF Nicolas Pepe is the best cheap RW to have in your Ligue 1 side. He's got blistering pace (89) even without a chemistry style boost and he also boasts of 96 agility, which makes him extremely difficult to mark, as he's able to make quick turns with the ball at his feet even whilst sprinting.
The best chemistry style to give Pepe is Hunter, as it would nearly max out his pace by taking it up to 97. It would also give the Ivory Coast international 89 finishing, making him capable of scoring timed finesse shots from insane angles.
ST – NIF Memphis Depay
Potential Cost: 2.2k
Despite having a 3-star weak foot, Memphis Depay is one of the best strikers in the Ligue 1, and not just on the game, as he's already earned himself an 85 In Form card thanks to his impressive performances for Lyon. This is quite costly, though, so we'll go with his 83 rated card for now.
With 78 passing, Depay is able to distribute the ball better than most strikers on the game, allowing him to bring other players into play with his back to goal. His pace, though, is a key asset, as with a Hunter chem style his pace goes up to 98, allowing him to run past any defender should he have enough space to run into.
With a five-star skill rating, you'll be able to perform moves like the Sombero Flick, Rabona Fake, The Elastico, and much more to skill your way to victory.
LW – IF Jonathan Bamba
Potential Cost: 18k
Jonathan Bamba might not be the most ideal left winger, but he's capable of scoring goals and making assists thanks to his decent pace and finishing stats, which when boosted by a Hunter chemistry style goes up to 96 and 83 respectively.
The main downside to his card is that he's got a three-star skill rating, which limits the skill moves he's able to perform. He's also got a three star weak foot, which makes it hard to find the back of the net with his weaker left foot, but should you utilise him on the left flank in-game, he'll be able to finesse the ball into the top corner with his right foot.
