How it works

Five basketball racks are positioned around the arc of a court, each rack lined with five official NBA or WNBA game balls placed on the top railing.
Men will shoot from the official NBA distance - 23-foot, 9-inches at the top of the arc and 22 feet at the corners.
Women will shoot from the official WNBA distance - 22 feet, 1.75 inches at the top of the arc and 22 feet at the corners.
A player will start on either corner with a clock of 70 seconds to work against, with the objective to quickly make their way around the arc to each of the racks, sinking as many 3-point shots as possible within the time frame.
Top Men’s and Women’s scores from each event this season will qualify to enter the national leaderboard and enter for a chance to win a shooting clinic with Chris Mathews.

The Record-Breaking Story in 66 seconds

In February 2022, Chris Matthews - aka @lethalshooter - broke two NBA All-Star 3-point records that stood for more than 30 years. In a Los Angeles gym, he set up five racks of five balls each around the official NBA 3-point arc and was able to knock down 23 of 25 shots in 66 seconds, breaking the record of 21 set by Craig Hodges in the 1991 NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest. Matthews also broke Hodges’ record of 19 straight makes with an astonishing 20 in a row.
Now this summer, Matthews launches Red Bull Run the Racks, the premier basketball shooting competition in the United States. Red Bull Run the Racks is challenging the best shooters in the USA to achieve the impossible…Running the Racks.
The nation’s top performing male and female shooters who compete in Red Bull Run the Racks will earn a chance to train with Lethal Shooter. Be sure to follow the action all year long and tag @redbullusa @lethalshooter #redbullhoops.
