Perched on the limestone cliffs of Puglia above the Adriatic Sea, this small southern Italian town has hosted the circuit every year since 2009, and returns in 2026 for a record-extending 13th time. Considered the spiritual home of Red Bull Cliff Diving, Polignano a Mare is a place where the sport has taken root so deeply that it has become part of the town's identity.
What makes Polignano a Mare genuinely unlike anywhere else on the calendar is where the diving actually takes place. The most memorable take-off point is embedded within a private residence built directly into the cliff face, where athletes launch a round of diving from the private balcony.
From balconies to the beach below and the historic arch bridge, thousands of locals and visitors pack every available vantage point to watch the athletes perform incredible feats. The narrow streets of the old town also become part of the spectacle, as the athletes pass through the crowd en route back to the platforms, exchanging high-fives with the fans. Out in the natural ampitheatre on the cliffside, the divers launch from 27 metres for the men and 21 metres for the women, soaring and out over the Adriatic below.
Beyond the competition, Polignano a Mare sits at the heart of the Puglia region, perfectly located to explore even more of southern Italy. The coastline offers world-class conditions for sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing, while inland adventurers can trek, cycle and pause to enjoy some of Italy's top cuisine. Polignano a Mare earns its place on the calendar every year... and earns its place on your travel list just as easily.
