Red Bull Flugtag will take place in Cincinnati on August 9, 2025. It will be held at Yeatman’s Cove Park.
Gates open open at 12 p.m. (though the waters will be open for boats all day) with opening ceremonies starting at 1 p.m.
Final flight will take off about 3:45pm and will be immediately followed by an Awards Ceremony *Times subject to change – updated times will be posted closer to event day.

Absolutely! For public safety, be advised that the United States Coast Guard, and local authorities, will be closing the Ohio River from 12pm – 5pm on Saturday, August 9th. Per the USCG, the river closure will take place on the Ohio River between mile markers 469.5 – 470.5.
If you’d like to view Red Bull Flugtag from your boat on the water, you are encouraged to enter the viewing area prior to 12pm on Saturday, August 9th.
Recreational vessels looking to enter or transit through the viewing area AFTER 12pm will be required to obtain permission from any vessels enforcing the closure or from the U.S. Coast Guard on Marine Channel 69. For emergencies, please utilize Marine Channel 16.

There will be food and beverage vendors stationed around the event site. The event is open seating so get there early to reserve a spot! No smoking allowed. ADA viewing areas will be on site. People with impairments can view from these areas, along with one additional guest. We are hoping for a beautiful summer day, but please be sure to check weather conditions and dress accordingly, including plenty of sunscreen. Free water stations will be onsite for refilling water bottles, or resealable aluminum water bottles which can be purchased onsite from concessions.

Flugtag, pronounced “FLOOG-TOG,” means “flying day” in German.
At Red Bull Flugtag, teams of up to five people have worked for months building homemade, human-powered flying machines which one person pilots off of an elevated flight deck, through the air and into a body of water. Teams are judged based on three criteria – flight distance, creativity and showmanship – by a panel of local and national celebrities.
How much imagination do you have? Red Bull Flugtag flying machines range from realistic plane replicas to anything the imagination can conjure up. Past crafts include a Flying Purple People Eater, Santa and his sleigh, a flying toilet and even a flying cheeseburger. To gain more showmanship points, participants often wear outrageous costumes, act out skits, and create their own music soundtracks for the flight.
All crafts must be human-powered – no engines or external energy sources allowed. Prefabricated crafts will not be accepted. Each craft must be less than 22-feet wide and not more than 400 lbs. (including the pilot), and craft pilots must be at least 18 years old.
Red Bull has produced more than 100 Flugtags around the world — from Rome to Los Angeles. The first Red Bull Flugtag took place in 1991 in Vienna, Austria, as the brainchild of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz.
The first U.S. Red Bull Flugtag was produced in October 2002 in San Francisco. Since then, Red Bull Flugtag has landed in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, Portland, Long Beach, Baltimore, Cleveland, Tempe, Nashville, Washington DC, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Tampa Bay, the Twin Cities and Philadelphia.
The record for the longest flight is 78.6m (258ft), set on September 21st, 2013 in Long Beach, California by ‘The Chicken Whisperers”
London holds the record with over 250,000 spectators at the 2003 event, during which Hyde Park was closed due to capacity (which has only happened one other time in history which was during a free Rolling Stones concert). Red Bull Flugtags in the U.S. have drawn crowds of 120,000 people which was recorded in the Twin Cities in 2010.
