Stuttgart

Germany

Red Bull Cerro Abajo drops into Germany for the first time ever – uniting the world’s best riders in the most extreme urban MTB downhill race as they conquer steep staircases, narrow streets, parks, monuments and obstacles only Stuttgart can offer.

For the first time in history, the world's largest urban downhill mountain bike series is coming to Germany. Red Bull Cerro Abajo lands in the Stuttgarter Kessel for the ultimate season finale, transforming the city's hillside stairways, steep cobbled alleys and tight urban corridors into a full-throttle action zone unlike anything the country has ever seen.
A selection of the planet's most elite MTB riders will go full send down an exclusively designed city course, ripping over specially built features, launching off massive obstacles and threading through narrow gaps at a blistering pace. With the Red Bull Cerro Abajo world championship title on the line at the final stop of the international series, expect flat-out, full throttle riding from the world's best.

About Red Bull Stuttgart Cerro Abajo 2026

Germany welcomes the Red Bull Cerro Abajo World Series for the first time this season. Qualifying takes place on Saturday, September 5, followed by Finals on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The Stuttgart stop marks the closing chapter of the 2025/26 World Series season, where a new Red Bull Cerro Abajo champion will be crowned.
Since Genoa became the first European city to host a Red Bull Cerro Abajo race in 2024, the World Series has been expanding its reach beyond its Latin American roots, with Stuttgart now only the second European city to host the world's greatest urban MTB downhill race.

Overview

Red Bull Cerro Abajo is an urban downhill MTB world series that drops the planet's most fearless riders into some of the steepest, most technically demanding city streets in existence. Points are on the line at every stop, and the rider who accumulates the most across the full season is crowned Red Bull Cerro Abajo champion.
The 2025/26 series has already delivered two defining rounds. Roger Vieira took the season opener in Genoa, Italy in August 2025, before Sebastián Holguín rewrote the record books with a history-making victory at Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo in Chile in February 2026. The competition heads back to Genoa once again in June, before wrapping in Germany. With the championship standings tight heading into the final round, everything comes down to Stuttgart on September 5 and 6. The title race is wide open, and Germany gets to watch it unfold at its very own World Series debut.

What are the Red Bull Cerro Abajo World Series race format and rules?

Qualifying
Riders take on the full length of each track one at a time against the clock, with the 15 fastest securing their place in the final. The start order runs in reverse of the previous year's series standings. Protected riders retain their place in the final even if a mechanical or crash cuts their qualifying run short.
Finals
The 15 qualifiers return to the course in reverse order: slowest first, fastest last. Each rider has one run, and one shot to clock in their best time. The rider who posts the fastest time takes the win, and the points that come with it.
Stuttgart's Stäffele will demand total commitment from the first metre to the last. Riders need razor-sharp lines, relentless focus and the nerve to push at full gas through steep drops and tight urban corners.
The official start list will be confirmed closer to the event – check back here for updates!

Points and timing
Points are awarded based on finishing positions at each event, with both Final and Qualifying results counting toward the season total, except at the final round in Stuttgart, where no Qualifying points are awarded. The rider with the highest points tally across all three events will be awarded the Red Bull Cerro Abajo championship title. If two riders are level on points, the better single-event result separates them.
Four intermediate splits and a speed trap measure maximum velocities across the full course. At previous Red Bull Cerro Abajo events, riders have averaged 40kph through some of the most technical urban terrain in the sport.
For full details on the competition rules and regulations, check out the Red Bull Cerro Abajo Format page.
Rules
Protected status guarantees a place in the final if a DNF or out-of-qualifying result keeps a rider outside the top 15. It's awarded to top finishers from the previous year's series, past event winners, and leading UCI downhill athletes. Protected status does not apply to a DNS – riders must start their Qualifying run to remain eligible.
All built features on the course, including jumps and walls, must be cleared and completed correctly. Each missed obstacle carries a five-second time penalty. If a rider is impeded or flagged during a Qualifying run, the organisation may grant a bye run through to the final. Animal incursions on course – including stray dogs – do not qualify the rider for a re-run.
There are no tape markings on the course, and no re-runs. Route knowledge is everything: every line, every step and every corner needs to be locked in before the clock starts.
