We’re looking for a full-on rollercoaster of creativity — the outrageous, the preposterous, the over-the-top! A bicycle should feel like an extension of its team’s wildest dreams. It’s bold, it’s unpredictable, it’s a thrill ride. It can twist, turn, and shock. One thing it can never be… is ordinary.

Your human-powered racing machine must not exceed a maximum of four feet wide and ten feet long, be at least nine inches from the ground and no taller than seven feet. It must not exceed 176 lbs. in weight (excluding the driver, of course).

Bicycles must be powered by the force of gravity only. That, and your imagination. So no external energy sources are allowed. But that doesn’t mean you won’t go fast.

This event is, above all, a rollercoaster of a race — fast, wild, and unpredictable. The team that reaches the finish line the quickest will be in the spotlight. But remember: you’ve got to actually cross the finish line in your craft. No ride, no glory.

Teams are judged on three rollercoaster-worthy criteria: Design, pre-race performance, and showmanship. So racers need to take us on a ride — with jaw-dropping looks, electric energy, and unforgettable flair at every turn.
