A top shot-stopper is crucial for anyone’s FIFA Ultimate Team and, if you’re fortunate enough to be able to afford the best in the business, you’ll be looking to add one of these players into your FIFA 20 squad.
However, with David de Gea losing his crown as the highest-rated goalie in the game, who is the new king of the keepers?
1. Jan Oblak
- FIFA 19 Rating: 90
- FIFA 20 Rating: 91
De-throning David de Gea as the best keeper in FIFA is Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak. The Slovenian kept a clean sheet in over half of the games he played for Atletico in La Liga last season and his incredible form has been rewarded.
His stats are absolutely out of this world, however, his rather obscure nationality means he is slightly harder to implement into hybrid teams. Luckily, Atletico has a number of top centre backs to provide some extra chemistry to Oblak, who is without a doubt the keeper you’ll want to break the bank for.
2. Marc-Andre ter Stegen
- FIFA 19 Rating: 89
- FIFA 20 Rating: 90
Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen is just behind Oblak and is the only 90-rated goalkeeper in FIFA 20.
While Oblak provides a slightly more sturdy and dependable option in goal, ter Stegen brings much better ball-playing ability to the fold. If you’re after a keeper to play out from the back or provide some pinpoint long balls, he will be your man.
The German could also come in handy for making some La Liga/Bundesliga hybrids too.
3. Alisson
- FIFA 19 Rating: 85
- FIFA 20 Rating: 89
The biggest upgrade in this list goes to Liverpool’s Alisson. After a superb season last year, he has been rewarded with a +4 upgrade to put him in the elite-tier of goalkeepers.
The Brazilian is a good all-rounder and has very high reflex and positioning stats and will be a great addition to any Premier League or Brazilian squad.
4. David de Gea
- FIFA 19 Rating: 91
- FIFA 20 Rating: 89
After a slightly out of character end to last season, the usually dependable David de Gea had a dip in form that has seen him lose his top spot in the goalkeeper ratings.
With 90 diving and 92 reflexes, Manchester United’s number one is still one of the top options in net despite the -2 downgrade in his overall rating. He could still bounce back this season and earn himself some tasty in-form cards down the line.
5. Ederson
- FIFA 19 Rating: 86
- FIFA 20 Rating: 88
Manchester City’s Ederson is yet another incredible option for a Premier League keeper in FIFA 20.
Not only is Ederson a great shot-stopper, but the Brazilian is also one of the world’s best with the ball at his feet. This hasn’t gone unnoticed at EA, as they’ve given him a whopping kicking stat of 93, the highest in the game.
6. Manuel Neuer
- FIFA 19 Rating: 90
- FIFA 20 Rating: 88
It’s a record the German has held since FIFA 15, however it comes to an end in FIFA 20. Manuel Neuer has dropped below a 90 overall rating.
Despite the -2 downgrade, Neuer is still a brilliant all-rounder and is certainly the top choice for any Bundesliga squad with all keeping stats above 85, a decent 60 speed and a kicking stat of 91, which is rivalled only by Ederson.
7. Samir Handanovic
- FIFA 19 Rating: 88
- FIFA 20 Rating: 88
The standout choice for a Serie A keeper this year is certainly Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic. Handanovic has been consistently one of the top keepers in the last three editions of the game and FIFA 20 will be no different.
His kicking stats might not be much to write home about, but the Slovenian is a super balanced keeper in all other aspects. Similarly to countryman Oblak, however, his nationality may make him trickier to squeeze into hybrid teams.
8. Hugo Lloris
- FIFA 19 Rating: 88
- FIFA 20 Rating: 88
Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is yet another high-rated Premier League goalkeeper.
He retains his 88 overall rating for FIFA 20 and has some decent stats, particularly his reflexes. However, he might not be the most popular choice in Premier League squads with the likes of Alisson, de Gea and Ederson all being better options for those with the cash to splash.
