The rewards that this mode can give you can make all the difference as you rank up in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

It sounds like an international match between powerhouses Portugal and England doesn't it? Well, it’s not, it’s a description of one of the many goals FC Heat scored against me in my second-ever Squad Battles match in FIFA 23.
Squad Battles is a gauntlet! It’s a weekly, Sunday-to-Sunday game mode where you play matches against some of the best player-created players. In other words, instead of an all star roster, with real players like Sean Nealis or John Tolkin, you get to play with AI-controlled FIFA Ultimate Team lineups in the game.

Not only are Squad Battles good practice, the time you spend in game mode will give you more resources to improve your squad. Below is our guide to leveling up your Squad Battle rewards in FIFA 23.

What are Squad Battle Rewards

There are two types of rewards you receive for Squad Battles: coins by playing matches and packs by ranking up. The better you play in matches, the more coins you get, and the higher you climb in rank. The higher you climb in rank– the better the rewards you receive.
Keep in mind that playing against opponents at a higher difficulty earns you more Battle Points per match, which will allow you to rank up faster.
Every week, you can play up to 42 matches against other FUT teams to rank up to gain Battle Points. After that, you can’t gain any more Battle Points for the rest of the week. As you continue to play more matches and climb higher in rank, your rewards stack up throughout the week. At the end of the week, whatever rank you are in will determine which Squad Battles Rewards you receive.
These rewards are important because they can give you more gold to buy additional packs/players. These players can make a huge difference for your squad. To check your rank, select Squad Battles > Your Rank once you’re in the FIFA Ultimate Team menu.

Tips for Ranking High

- Play at an adequate difficulty level: Think of Squad Battles as practice that you can earn rewards from. You’re playing against the AI, not real players, so feel free to take advantage of that fact and challenge yourself, but don’t overdo it. While winning on amateur or semi-pro may not net you that many points, losing at legendary or ultimate difficulties could cause you to gain fewer points than if you had won on professional. Find the sweet spot where you’re winning most of your games, gaining a lot of points, and improving.
- Focus on goals and clean sheets: The name of the game is to win, and your rewards will increase the more dominant you play. Squad Battles rewards you 40 points for every goal you score, up to five. You lose points for getting scored on, so make sure that both your offense and your defense are on point during these games.
- Build a physical side: Pace is still king in FIFA, but you’re also going to need defenders and midfielders that are agile and mobile enough to keep up with your opponent. The tougher AI will take no prisoners when going on the offensive, so you have to make sure that your team is fitted with players all around the pitch that can handle the pressure. Don’t forget Squad Battles is practice; use it to try out different lineups or formations to ensure that you trot out your best XI every match.

Squad Battles reward you with coins and packs that you can use to bolster your team. As you continue to rank up, the rewards get better. Here is a list of those rewards:

How and When to Claim Rewards
When you earn rewards, you don’t receive them automatically. They are stored for you to receive at the end of the week when the Squad Battles event resets. This happens at 4 am EST/1 am PST so that you can claim them anytime after. Allow for a few minutes for the rewards to be deposited and you can claim them in-game or on FUT Web and the Companion App. These rewards never expire, so you can claim them whenever you feel like it or whenever it becomes advantageous for you to do so.

Squad Battles is a great way for players to practice and experiment with their squad in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. The weekly gauntlet of 42 matches gives players the chance to play against other FUT squads in the FIFA community controlled by AI, allowing you to work on the key parts of the game like defending.
