Marcus Kleveland Stomps First Quad Cork in a Comp
On his X Games debut, Marcus Kleveland stuns all with a never-before-stomped feat in a competition.

Records were broken on the second day of action at X Games Aspen when Marcus Kleveland, the youngest competitor in the field, landed a Quad Cork 1800 in-competition. This is his very first X Games showing...
For those struggling to get their brain around the trick, a Backside 1800 Quadruple Cork is shred shorthand for a jump containing four off axis flips and five full rotations.
So far, a Quad Cork had only been landed four times ever, not once in competition.

First by Billy Morgan, followed just hours later by Max Parrot, and then repeated twice by 17-year old Marcus Kleveland. But stomping this trick under the pressure of a mega comp was unexpected and catapulted Kleveland into the lead.
But, Parrot countered by writing history of his own when he landed the first ever in-competition Quadruple Underflip. So far, this has been an X Games of firsts.
With a cleaner landing, Parrot scored a point more and thus, too home the gold. Kleveland finished with silver and X Games legend Mark McMorris picked up his 13th medal with a bronze.

Attention now turns to the Mens Slopestyle competition this Sunday where McMorris has won gold on four of the last five occasions.
It'll be worth keeping an eye on what Kleveland and Yuki Kadono –renowned for the previous biggest trick, a Triple Cork 1620 – will pull out of the bag. Stay tuned!
