Jake Burton Carpenter. Where do I even start...
A man that changed lives for millions; a man that did it his way. It’s quite strange to think about what my life would be like without snowboarding, where I’d be, what I’d be doing? I wouldn’t want to change the path I took for anything in this world. A sport he created has taught me so many life lessons, taken me around the globe, and created so many life lasting friendships. Speaking on friendships, I was lucky enough to have a very special bond with the man himself. Sometimes I’d ask myself, “Why me?” He treated me like a son, a friend, a brother and I will forever be grateful for the many times we spent together. I cherished our friendship so deeply. Whenever I knew I was going on trip with Jake I’d almost get giddy like a little kid as I knew it would be another once in a lifetime experience.
The way he treated everybody with utter respect and gave everyone the time of day will stick with me until it’s my time to go. I’m so damn honoured to have known a pioneer of a craft that means everything to me. I would die to say thank you and give Jake a hug one last time. I love you brother. I will carry on your legacy and spirit with everyone you touched for as long as we live. Rest in pow my friend, you’ll never be forgotten!
Til we meet again❤️
Love, Mark
