New Champ Lucian Playable in League of Legends
Lucian the Purifier is a new ranged carry with a kickass range of abilities.
With a look that’s equal parts Blade the Vampire Hunter and Neo from the Matrix, Lucian the Purifier has just arrived to League of Legends and could soon be a popular pick for competitive players.
He’s described as a skilled sharpshooter and hunter of the undead who "obliterates evil with righteous power." He’s a ranged carry good at pummeling opponents with quick shots, relentless dashes and a barrage of light-infused bullets.
His abilities are as follows:
- Lightslinger - After using one of his abilities, Lucian's next auto attack shoots twice. The second shot deals reduced damage.
- Piercing Light - Shoots a bolt of light through a target, damaging enemies in a line.
- Ardent Blaze - Fires a shot that explodes in a star pattern and marks targets. Shooting marked targets grants Lucian a short burst of speed.
- Relentless Pursuit - Lucian dashes a short distance and removes all slowing effects. Relentless Pursuit's cooldown resets if The Culling kills an enemy champion.
- The Culling (Ultimate) - Lucian moves freely while firing rapidly in a single direction, dealing damage to the first enemy hit. Lucian can cast Relentless Pursuit while shooting.
According to Riot, Lucian is a bottom lane champ who can harass with Piercing Light, forcing enemy carries to decide between missing last hits as they dodge his shots or taking damage as they farm up. Dashing with Relentless Pursuit or landing Ardent Blaze and a follow-up auto attack on escaping targets gives Lucian the speed boost needed to close gaps, score kills or escape a deadly gank. Earning kills with The Culling also refreshes Relentless Pursuit, making Lucian a swift death dealer while his ultimate is active.
The Purifier comes with a tortured backstory. He and his wife Senna battled the undead together and purified evil spirits. On a deadly mission to the Shadow Isles, his wife's soul was stolen by Thresh. In honor of Senna's memory, he took up her fallen weapon and vowed to see their mission through to slay the undead and cleanse the souls of the Shadow Isles. Heavy, right?
What do you think LoL players, do you think some of your favorite teams will use Lucian?
