The Professional Skateboarding League, better known as PSL, is rethinking what a skate contest can look like. Created by skate icon Mike Mo Capaldi, the league trades confusing scorecards for an easy to understand, higher-pressure format.
Built around teams and head-to-head momentum, PSL is designed to make competitive skateboarding easier to follow and more exciting to watch.

Here’s what you need to know.
01

What is PSL (Professional Skateboarding League)?

The idea for PSL goes back many years ago. During his time at The Berrics, Mike Mo Capaldi often explored ways to make skate contests more team-oriented and easier for fans to follow. Many of those concepts were ahead of their time and logistically challenging to execute.
PSL is the evolution of that thinking. It is Mike Mo’s brainchild brought to life on his own terms, with a format designed to create tension, rivalries and real momentum across a full season.
02

How did PSL begin?

PSL traces back to Mike Mo Capaldi’s long standing desire to rethink what a skate contest could be. During his time at The Berrics, he regularly pitched team based, bracket style competitions that were ultimately shelved due to logistical challenges. That sparked a vision to build something on his own terms, evolving into what is now the Professional Skateboarding League.
03

Who is competing?

PSL is bringing together one of the heaviest street skate lineups anywhere. With teams stacked from top to bottom, every matchup has potential to go down to the wire.
Teams & Rosters
Names set to compete include Gustavo Ribeiro, Felipe Gustavo, Ryan Decenzo, Angelo Caro, Ginwoo Onodera and Jamie Foy, among others. From Olympic street skaters to Skaters of the Year, the field reflects the full spectrum of elite skateboarding.

04

What is the format?

At its core, PSL is a no-judge, team-based game of SKATE with a competitive twist. A referee oversees the action, enforces the rules and confirms trick completion.

Structure

  • 4 quarters
  • 3 vs. 3 skaters

How it works

  • Team 1 starts on offense and sets the trick
  • Team 2 must match the trick
  • If Team 2 misses, Team 1 earns one point
  • Team 1 remains on offense until they miss three tricks
  • After three misses, possession switches and the opposing team goes on offense
